Classes & Workshops Classes and workshops in Precious Metal Clay are offered frequently. Most are held at The Valley Art Center in Chagrin Falls. Other Venues as scheduled. All classes/workshops are offered contingent on a minimum enrollment. Valley Art Center Classes: Precious Metal Clay Jewelry classes are offered in six week sessions (shorter session this Fall II- see below). Explore many different ways to express your jewelry ideas. Make pendants, earrings, rings and components to add to your beaded work. These are ongoing classes. All levels welcome, advanced techniques offered as students gain experience. Sessions have filled to capacity, early registration recommended. $135 Class fee ($122 VAC members)* plus materials fee of $38-42 (depends on silver market) for initial package of PMC and misc. supplies (payable to instructor). For required tools - kits available - please download list. Some tools available for use in class. Metal Clay • Tuesdays • 1 - 3:30 pm (All levels) Fall I #1839; Fall II #1840 Metal Clay • Wednesdays • 6:30 9 pm (Beginning) Fall I #1933; Fall II #1934 Metal Clay • Thursdays • 6:30 - 9 pm (All levels) Fall I #1860; Fall II #1861 Viking Knit Chain class is an introduction to the art of knitting or weaving chain (see chain above) using the viking stitch. Create your own handmade chain. We will learn the basics of the stitch and make chain “sketches” by varying the chain width and gauge of wire to practice. This will help you chose the final design of the chain you will make. Expect to complete one chain within the class, however you may work on a chain on your own time to complete as many as you would like. Materials fee of $15.00 for wire to make sketches and other materials (final chain costs separate). Final chain can be made in Artistic wire or fine silver. Artistic wire will be less than $10.00; silver cost will vary according to market price and gauge chosen with an approximate cost of $20-25.
